Colour can effectively convey emotions and ideas, language cannot convey!

The ‘Gods in Colour’ International Exhibition

The Gods in Color exhibition have been touring the world since 2003, expanded continually by the results of new studies. In thirty cities, some three million visitors have meanwhile seen the show. Its first edition was on view here at Frankfurt’s Liebieghaus sculpture museum in 2008. Since then, the number of reconstructions has nearly tripled. Vinzenz Brinkmann’s reconstructions are made in collaboration with the archaeologist Ulrike Koch-Brinkmann and give current viewers a vibrant picture of the former polychromy of the sculptures.

The Cycladic Artefacts in Colour

Colours are versatile and harmonious becoming a powerful medium of human expression.

Colour remains a crucial aspect in the creative elements of our human perception. It has the power to signify something that cannot be taken for granted! It influences our emotions, attitudes, and behaviours. It calls us to take it seriously.

Colours can evoke feelings of joy, sadness, calmness, or excitement, and can even impact our appetite and perception of taste.

In our journey we use different colour representations. We capture motifs about gender as well diversity.

It is evident that the Cycladic people were ahead of their times.

In producing the following artefact they understood the importance of working together. Notice the fusion of the male and female figurines. They symbolize a deeper comprehension about sustainability and existence. Collaboration between people plays a crucial role for attaining human advancements.

The holding of the child in the middle remains a statement. Individuals can only accomplish so much success when working alone. The depiction of holding a child remains significant. It proudly symbolizes a creative representation of a desire to do one’s best for the future in spite of those who bore the child into the world no longer be present

In arts, colours can be used in so many ways to create mood, convey emotions, draw attention, establish a sense of depth and space, and communicate ideas.

According to the exhibition ‘Gods in Colour’ it is evident that colour remains a significant element to how artefacts might have been presented in Ancient Greece.

Colours contains aesthetically pleasing qualities.

They evoke an immediate emotional response. There is a universal understanding of its beauty within the human psyche.

The Cycladic figure is a position of contemplation possibly about the meaning of human existence!

The incorporation of colour through our application of an ethnic style highlights the significance of perpetuity, the acceptance of change, time and identity.

Colours remain a critical aspect of art but also of society. They greatly enhance the human imagination through visual impact. This is only possible because emotional resonance placed in the artwork.

In the following representation the Cycladic figurines painted in the national German flag colours identifies the importance of the unity of a country nation. Countries are recognized through their individual flag colours. We distinguish between cultures and society mainly through their flag colours. Without this important connection colour could not play such a crucial role in our visual method of thinking and securing our identities.

We identify a connection between the past and the present through the use of colour. We are excited about the cultural elements that spring up through colour and made meaningful for people and societies.

Colour combinations between country nations but also outside them are not accidental choices. They are carefully selected to capture meanings and symbolism.

Colour is a form of ‘light’.

It has a fundamental aspect in our visual experience. It carries a profound impact to our lives.
